
Apple Crumble
Squishy cinnamon apples under a golden, buttery oat crumble. A proper British pudding that costs pennies and feeds a crowd.

Method
- Heat the oven to 190C / 170C fan.
- Toss the apple slices with the sugar and cinnamon and tip into a baking dish.
- Rub the cold butter into the flour with your fingertips until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs, then stir in the brown sugar and oats.
- Scatter the crumble evenly over the apples and bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling at the edges.
- Rest for 5 minutes, then serve with custard, cream or vanilla ice cream.
💡 A mix of eating and cooking apples gives the best flavour — sharp apples stop it being one-note sweet.
