
Spaghetti Bolognese
The classic family ragu — rich beef and tomato sauce slowly simmered, served over spaghetti with plenty of parmesan. Better than the jar, cheaper too.

- 400 g beef mince · 400 g · 1000 kcal
- 300 g dried spaghetti · 300 g · 1113 kcal
- 1 onion · 110 g · 44 kcal
- finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves · 8 g · 12 kcal

- 400 g chopped tomatoes · 400 g · 72 kcal
- 2 tbsp tomato paste · 22 g · 4 kcal

Method
- Warm the olive oil in a deep pan over a medium heat and soften the onion for 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, then turn up the heat, add the beef mince and brown it, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in the tomato paste and oregano, cook for a minute, then add the chopped tomatoes and a splash of water.
- Simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes until thick and rich. Season to taste.
- Meanwhile cook the spaghetti in well-salted boiling water until al dente, then drain, reserving a mug of pasta water.
- Toss the pasta with the sauce, loosening with pasta water if needed. Serve with plenty of grated parmesan.
💡 A long, gentle simmer is the secret — 30 minutes minimum, and leftovers taste even better the next day.
